For my second project I photographed the cherry blossoms in DC. I went early in the morning to get soft light and focused on framing the monuments as well as detail photos of the cherry blossoms themselves.

Your framing shots are effective. For some of your other shots, I would suggest a speedlight set to ETTL and to high speed sync, then set your ISO to 100, your mode to manual and your aperture to 16 or 18 and your shutter speed to 250. This way you won’t get motion blur and you will get deeper depth of field.
